V. John Ella

Employment and licensing attorney V. John Ella has over 20 years of experience with professional licensing law. From March 9, 2010 to January 2, 2018 he served as a public member of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.  During that time, he served as Secretary, Chair of the Policy and Planning Committee, and as a member of one of two Complaint Review Committees. He was involved in helping to amend the Minnesota Medical Practice Act in 2016. He attended several meetings of the Federation of State Medical Boards. He also currently serves on the Minnesota Board of Legal Certification.  As an advocate, Mr. Ella has successfully represented physicians before the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. He has also represented and advised clients regarding matters before the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine, the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy, the Minnesota Board of Private Detective and Protective Agent Services, the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board, the Health Professionals Services Program, the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, the National Practitioner Data Bank, the Minnesota Board of Nursing, the Minnesota Board of Social Work, the Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Minnesota Board of School Administrators, among other state licensing boards. He also represents clients in disputes with national certifying bodies such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  Mr. Ella has presented a Webinar with Minnesota CLE on "Advocacy Before Professional Licensing Boards." He has represented many individual physicians and dentists concerning employment agreements and employment issues with most of the large health care providers in the state.  He has also advised smaller health care providers on when to report to state licensing boards, HIPAA compliance, and related issues. Mr. Ella is also available to consult with other attorneys about Board of Medical Practice questions.
